Burnside Fountain or “Turtle Boy”

The Burnside Fountain, also known as Turtle Boy in Worcester, is a sort of local mascot. It’s quirky, Worcesterites love it, ¬†and it’s a little hard to explain; just like Worcester itself.

This statue was a gift from¬†Harriet Pamela Foster Burnside. It was a tribute to her father, a prominent Worcester attorney. When it was originally installed, it was a water trough for dogs and horses. Now the fountain has no water and no one rides horses through Worcester, MA, so it’s just a statue now.
