Well, I’ve started looking around for stuff to do for Halloween that isn’t just the standard “trick-or-treating”; not that there’s anything wrong with free chocolate. I’m all for it! These are some fun things to do in addition to begging your neighbors for candy 😉

An all ages Halloween party at Old Sturbridge Village. There will be lots of Halloween creatures on hand like scarecrows, trolls, ghosts, witches and wizards. The event includes performers (puppet shows, jugglers, storytellers); trick or treating, snacks and a TON of hand-carved jack o’ lanterns.

This one is an all-ages family event. Features the display of hundreds of carved, lit pumpkins, free hay-rides, train rides, free digital planetarium show, games, Halloween stories, face painting and a lot more. “Friendly” Halloween costumes are encouraged and do bring a flashlight. The “Apple Spice Junction” will be open and selling grill items, soups, drinks and some treats.

FREE studio-wide, hands-on, crafts event for families with children of all ages. Families will be allowed to travel from studio to studio and experience different media by creating artwork. You even get to keep what you make.
Kids will get what they are calling a “passport” to document their travels. “Travelers” who complete 3 activities will get a balloon!
Sample “Craft & Carry” activities include:
Mask making, clay animals, photograms, and metal bookmarks.
There will also be demonstrations, entertainment, refreshments and a raffle for a free class at the Craft Center.

The people out at Monster Mini Golf are celebrating Halloween all month. If you head out there and golf IN COSTUME, they’ll give you a key that may open one of the prize coffins during their Halloween celebration. Call for details, the web site doesn’t have specifics about when the celebrations will be happening. You can check the web site to see what the prizes are. They look pretty cool.
