Moore State Park

This is an interesting place. It was a mill then an estate. The mill still stands and the legacy of having been an estate appears to be some beautiful gardens and an enormous number or rhododendrons. If you can, go check it out when they’re in bloom. It’s incredible.

Moore was the site of grist and saw mills from 1747 through the early part of this century. It then became a private estate.  – Massachusetts Parks and Recreation

Rhododendrons. So. Many.
Rhododendrons. So. Many.

Seriously, I’ve never seen so many in one place and they’re HUGE. They’re all over in the woods and near the formal paths and roads.

This took a little hiking to get to. For anyone that’s used to hiking or in really good shape, it’s not so bad. I have issues with my back and one of my knees so it was a bit of a challenge but worth it.
